Last week a shipping container filled with sensible and appropriate gifts from the students of three Sydney schools, left for Honiara Solomon Islands. The 40 foot container, costs of shipping and an abundance of tools packed inside was generously donated by the Lions Club of Parramatta and their community partners.
The remaining space in the container was filled with socks, shoes, underpants, sport uniforms, books and book shelving. For those items that couldn’t be transported, such as glass for the windows in Gilbert Camp school, solar panels and malaria tablets, money has already been transferred for these items to be purchased at the other side of this journey!
This initiative was made possible through the S.E.A.T Project and it’s connection with Hills Grammar School Kenthurst, Roseville Public School and Penshurst Public School. Through S.E.A.T’s lessons of enquiry in philanthropy, powerful contribution and global engagement, these students with the help of their enthusiastic teachers were able to pull off a mammoth collaboration!
