Orange Sky is a terrific example of wise action and philanthropy for S.E.A.T students…how through wise action, two young guys have made such an extraordinary difference to the lives of others….here is their story.
In October 2014, two best mates had a crazy idea to put two washing machines and two dryers in the back of a van, and wash and dry clothes for free. Nicholas Marchesi and Lucas Patchett founded Orange Sky – a world-first, free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homelessness. On a mission to improve hygiene standards, Nic and Lucas stumbled on something much bigger and more significant – the power of a conversation. Every week, Orange Sky completes over 8 tonnes of washing, but more importantly, facilitates more than 1,300 hours of genuine and non-judgemental conversation. With 29 laundry, shower and hybrid vans in operation around the country, Orange Sky aims to positively connect communities.
A couple of S.E.A.T Project schools have chosen to help Orange Sky Laundry as a result of their learning about the ‘butterfly effect’.
