They say that the flutter of a butterfly’s wings on one side of the world can trigger a hurricane on the other side of the planet. At the S.E.A.T Project, we like to think that a small stool built in Vietnam can trigger a hurricane of good all over Australia and hopefully, the world.
SEAT, a small stool made entirely of bamboo, was designed by Niki Banados, a UNSW Art & Design graduate, as part of the Hands that Shape Humanity ‘Hand Up’ Mentor program.
SEAT is fabricated in a sustainable bamboo factory in Vietnam. While the factory itself is fuelled by the bamboo offcuts, the S.E.A.T Project also provides a sound working opportunity for the local community.
And if the S.E.A.T Project wasn’t already doing enough, it also forms the basis of a trans-disciplinary education program for primary school children that is aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
The butterfly effect of SEAT – an ordinary stool – is quite extraordinary.
