SchoolAid (formerly KidsGive) is Australia’s first crowdfunding platform for kids. It is a long established non-profit organisation whose purpose is to grow a sense of philanthropy in children by empowering kids to help kids in crisis.
SchoolAid turns fundraising and philanthropic dreams into reality. It’s for kids everywhere who want to make a difference, be it at school, in clubs or at home. They promote a world based on care, compassion and empathy, and believe that these values are best learnt through experience.
Since its inception in 1999, SchoolAid’s purpose is to promote a world where Australian children live the values of care and compassion and so develop a lifelong sense of moral and social responsibility. SchoolAid inspires campaigns created by little givers that tap into our community to activate compassion in the face of disasters and crises that impact children and their education.
SchoolAid enables and empowers primary school kids to make a tangible difference to the lives of other children – kids helping kids through commitment and action. By participating in KidsGive’s programs, kids learn a sense of personal and social responsibility about the needs of others, and how the power of their actions can truly make a difference. Founded on two pillars, In-reach and Out-reach, SchoolAid has always placed equal importance on the benefits kids gain from giving and being of service to others (In-reach) as it has on delivering support to children in crisis and need (Out-reach). In a world where individualism, consumerism, media and mental health issues can negatively impact the hearts and minds of our children, the act of giving and serving can counteract the negativity. It made sense that SchoolAid would back the first crowdfunding platform to encourage more kids to give – to ignite their compassion and provide it with a vehicle through which it can be actioned.
