Our first Queensland schools!!! Tennyson Specific Purpose School and Bracken Ridge State School participated in S.E.A.T as a collaborative project targeting leadership and resilience.
A Year 6 class participated over a 10 week term. In groups of 5, they built, designed and decorated a SEAT.
Bracken Ridge Year 6 Teacher, Mr Nic White identified, ” the S.E.A.T Project provided an opportunity for my students to engage in a relevant and important program that has positively impacted on my classroom environment and peer-to-peer interactions. Using the SEAT as a symbol of positive interactions, resilience and relationship building, my students now have a greater appreciation of the impact that their actions can have on improving the lives of others and the effects that their actions have on others.”
The 5 groups worked together to create and identify the future uses for the SEATS as being:
~ a reading chair for the local child care centre
~ a toggling table
~ a SEAT for the Principal’s office
~ a SEAT for the library
~ The Angry SEAT – for when you need to calm down. The S.E.A.T Project has been a rewarding, hands on experience for both Tennyson Specific Purpose School and Bracken Ridge State School, creating functional works of art that have, and will continue to contribute to social change in schools and the local community.”
